Children’s teeth are more susceptible to decay – especially on the chewing surfaces, where fissures (small grooves) form. Fissure sealing is a preventive procedure in which we fill these grooves with a thin protective layer. The procedure is quick, painless and significantly reduces the risk of decay on the molars – where it occurs most often.
We seal deep grooves on the chewing surfaces with a sealant - bacteria cannot get into them and the tooth is much less susceptible to decay.
Sealing takes only a few minutes and is done without drilling or injection - children tolerate it very well.
We seal both first and second molars - according to the doctor's recommendation and the development of the dentition. The earlier the better.
If the seal is well attached, it will last for several years. The tooth is thus protected against decay in the most at-risk area for a long time.
Sealing fissures is a simple, but very effective prevention of tooth decay. The procedure is quick, painless and helps protect teeth where they are most vulnerable.
